Once again, I forgot my newsletter existed. I also forgot I had Patreon and my main blog sadly neglected over the last year. I posted back in February of 2022 about how I forgot about this newsletter, and I never returned to it.
2022 turned out to be a rough year for me. Between additional duties at my day job, being a mom, and juggling grad school, I just shut down and doom scrolled various social media platforms whenever I had free time.
I barely wrote anything, barely took photos, or did any of my “fun” hobbies. I started to take mental health walks and refused to “do productive fun things” because I was causing myself anxiety by failing to complete tasks that were for “fun.” By October, things started to slow down, and I started to return to my hobbies.
Since then, I’ve been working on myself and reading as well— I just downloaded Fair Play by Eve Rodsky. I’ve started taking my mental health a little more seriously. I talk about my ups and downs with SAD and a little on how PPD affected me on my regular blog. I’m in the process of revamping some of my blogging plans. Originally this newsletter focused on poetry and musings and the “main blog,” The Wannabe Backpacker dealt with my forays into backpacking. Now, I’m thinking I will shift this newsletter to focus more on the musings with a little poetry tossed in. Maybe book reviews…
I don’t know what I’ll do with Patreon yet. It might serve as a catchall for all my interests. I’m going to attempt to post somewhat regularly this year on my various platforms. I’m thinking bi-monthly for both this newsletter and the main blog and twice weekly on my social medias. I’m also thinking of a similar schedule for YouTube.
I’m not going to make a New Year resolution or a hard promise on my aforementioned posting schedule. However, I do want to do more with my “fun” hobbies.
Here’s to doing better!
Thanks,
BJ
